Wicker Park Choral Singers

Building community through choral music

Wicker Park Choral Singers is a Chicago-based all-volunteer choir dedicated to building community through choral music.

One Year Anniversary Concert July 11 at 3pm

Wicker Park Choral Singers invites you to a concert celebrating the culmination of its first year on the Chicago musical stage. In addition to repertoire new to the ensemble, the concert program will include reprisals of fan-favorites from previous concerts. The choir will explore musical styles ranging from sacred motets to African American spirituals. WPCS’s performance will be held on Saturday, July 11th at 3pm at Wicker Park Lutheran Church located at 1502 N Hoyne Ave in Chicago IL. Admission to this concert is free and open to the public. What began as an idea for a neighborhood choral group just twelve short months ago, has blossomed into a 36-member ensemble and an integral part of Chicago's performing arts community. The choir has presented three major concerts to full and enthusiastic audiences to date. "When this whole thing began as an idea a little over a year ago," says founder and Artistic Director, Mark Tomasino, "I had a hunch that we could assemble enough singers to form a respectable ensemble. What I didn't expect, however, was the sheer number of talented individuals who expressed such excitement about our group. We are already performing a high caliber of literature, we have thirty-six amazingly gifted singers, and we’ve performed three full concerts — to packed audiences no less. This group has exceeded even my loftiest expectations!"
